The Good Life

A Little More About Me

I'm a wife to an amazing, hardworking, and complex man named Shane who has been a part of my life for almost 20 years. We have been married for 14 of those years and he has been my best friend the whole time.

In 2014 we sold our house, packed up our belongings and three fur babies, and moved to Texas from our native Wisconsin as we followed Shane's job. We left behind everything that was familiar and safe. All of our family and friends were now 1,600 miles away. It was a hard decision, but it was an adventure and opportunity that we couldn't pass up.

We made the 1400-mile journey from our small (by Texas standards) community in central Wisconsin to the coastal city of Corpus Christi.  What was "normal" for us changed overnight. We adjusted and found our rhythm. Made new friends and enjoyed frequent visits from friends and family alike.

In 2019 we followed Shane's job again and moved to Houston. This allowed me to make a career change that was always a childhood dream of mine.

I went from working in the eye care industry to working at a nonprofit horse rescue ranch as a ranch hand. I thrived in that environment. I loved the hard work and making a difference.

PS:

I still don't know how my husband talked me into living in a huge city like Houston. It still mystifies me. However, we have made some amazing friends here and I have come to love the city and wouldn't change where we live.
